JACKSON, Miss. – The Belhaven volleyball team picked up their first conference victory on the season with a 3-0 victory over Brewton Parker on Saturday. The Blazers improve to 8-6 on the season, and have never lost a match to the Barons.
Belhaven won the three sets with scores 25-20, 25-18, and 25-8. The Blazers have only dropped one set to the Barons.
"It was a great match for us both offensively and defensively, but we need to continue to work on our serve receive," said Dee.
Junior,
Chae Levy led all Blazers with eight kills on the evening, while senior, Erika LeFlore added a career high seven kills of her own.
Senior, Aly Plyler led the Blazers with 13 assists, while freshmen,
Amanda Cherry and
Ashley Rice helped with two assisted blocks on the evening.
Belhaven Junior,
Cassidy Fitzpatrick moved from defensive specialist to Libero and the move paid dividends for the Blazers. Fitzpatrick led all Blazers with 16 digs and four service aces on the evening.
"Cassidy really played wonderful on defense for us today in her new position," said Dee.
The Blazers will now host conference opponent Faulkner University on Tuesday. The first serve is set for 7PM.
