ALEXANDRIA, La. – The Belhaven Blazers Men's Soccer team improved its win streak to five games Tuesday afternoon with a 3-0 win over Louisiana State University – Alexandria.
The win is also the fourth clean sheet for the Blazers (5-1) during the streak.
Cillian Thompson started off the scoring for the Green and Gold with the first goal in the sixth minute. Thompson placed the opening shot into the back of the LSUA (1-2-2) net with a one touch effort off of a long cross in from far right wing by
Victor Lawrence.
In the 35th minute, Lawrence found himself on the other end of the scoring combo, hitting the back of the net from the top of the box after receiving a pass from
Joao Belmonte on the right wing.
Daniel Prado picked up the shutout for the Blazers, his first of the season in his first start for the Blazers. Prado had work to do in the game, making two big saves while also slowing a third effort from the Generals that was able to be cleared off the line by
Andrew West.
Belhaven capped off the scoring in the 65th minute as
Jose Presti won the ball away from the Generals defense after a long ball was played into the box. Presti was able to control the ball and turn past the last defender, placing the shot in the right of the net from the left side of the box.
The Blazers outshot the Generals 18-12 in the game and were able to put 10 shots on frame in the game.
Belhaven will travel to Memphis, Tennessee on Saturday, set to play Rhodes College at 2 p.m. It will be the second time Belhaven has played at Rhodes this season, as the Blazers defeated Hendrix College 2-0 in a neutral site contest hosted by Rhodes.
