Redhawks too much for Blazers

Box Score PULASKI, Tenn. – The Belhaven volleyball team fell 3-1 against Martin Methodist. The Redhawks handed the Blazers their second conference loss in as many games. The games were finished with scores of 13-25, 25-18, 18-25, and 14-25.

"Our serve receive was not at the level we needed in order to come out with a win," said head coach Justin Dee.

The Blazers got off to a good start, leading Martin Methodist 12-8, but 12 consecutive points gave the Redhawks a commanding lead.

The Blazers bounced back to win the second set off the hands of junior, Molly Boyer and freshman, Amanda Cherry. Boyer led all Blazers with nine kills, followed by Cherry and Hall's seven each.

Each adjustment made by the Blazers was countered by Redhawk runs. The Redhawks went on to win the next two sets by maintaining leads throughout each set.

Freshman, Kelly Aholt was tops for the Blazers in assists with 18, while senior, Aly Plyler added nine of her own.

Martin Methodist's Rosmerli Carillo led all players with 17 kills. The Redhawk's Mariana Campos was tops on the court with 41 assists on the evening.

"We look forward to returning home and playing in front of our home crowd," said Dee.

The Blazers will see home action this Tuesday against crosstown rival Mississippi College. The first serve is slated for 7:00pm.
