JACKSON, Miss.- The 8th ranked Belhaven men's tennis team extended their winning streak to seven consecutive matches after a 7-2 victory over Mobile Saturday afternoon. The women's team saw their streak end as they fell to the Rams 5-4. The men improved to 14-3 overall and 7-0 in Southern States Athletic Conference play, while the women' to 11-6 overall and 5-2 in conference play.
 
In women's singles, the Blazers took two out of the six courts that were played. In the No. 2, the Blazers' Ainsley Wright defeated Lea Junggeburth 6-1, 6-4 and Mary Lichlyter defeated the Ram's Treya Smith 6-0, 6-1 on the No. 5 court.
 
The Blazers faired well in women's doubles, as they bested the Rams in two out of three matches. The duo of Stephanie Smith and Katie Campbell knocked off the Ram's Ambria Phillips and Treya Smith 9-7,  (7-3). The team of Mary Lichlyter and Rachel Jefcoat defeated the Ram's Marcela Soalheiro and Susan Berner 8-5.
 
In men's singles, the Blazers won all but one court. Belhaven's Andre Borghi defeated Cesar Paleari 6-2, 6-0 in the in the No.1 spot. Jefferson Nino defeated Nick Van Amerom 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 3; Daniel Prado won the No. 4 by scores of 6-2, 6-2; David Mejia defeated Karlis Stonis 6-4, 6-3 in the No. 5; and Enrico Patriarca anchored the Blazers with a 6-0, 6-2 victory in the No. 6
 
In men's doubles, the Blazers claimed victories in all but the first court. Borghi and Patriarca defeated Lars Bannink and Santiago Quiros 8-2 in the No. 2, while Prado and Nino knocked off Stonis and Guilherme Pansera 8-3.
 
Both teams will be back on the court April 25th at the Southern States Athletic Conference Championships in Montgomery, Alabama.
