(Box Score-Game 1) (Box Score-Game 2)

Game One
Belhaven (21-6, 5-3 SSAC) rallied from a 3-0 deficit to take the lead in the fifth only to see Mobile (13-11, 6-2 SSAC) bounce back with three unanswered to pull out the victory. Sarah Stuart scored on a wild pitch in the top of the first inning and then an RBI double by Jordan Coleman followed by a throwing error gave the Rams and early lead.

The Blazers answered in the home half of the fifth with their only four runs, which at the time gave them a 4-3 edge. With two outs and the bases loaded, Emily Todd blasted a grand slam over the wall in left field, her second round tripper of the season. Unfortunately, the Rams countered in the sixth with two runs and added another in the seventh for the 6-4 win.

Todd went 2 for 4 at the plate with four runs batted in and one run scored to lead the Blazers offensively. Josie Porter, Shelby Watson, Ashely Hitt, and Dominique Corona each picked up a base hit. Belhaven outhit Mobile 6-4, but two errors defensively also aided the Rams in game one. Pitcher Katy Adair (6-3) suffered the loss in the circle, allowing six runs on four hits with five walks and three strikeouts.

Alyssa Kornegay went the distance in the center of the diamond for Mobile, permitting four runs on six hits with three walks and three strikeouts in seven frames. Anna Blake Barnette had two hits, and RBI and a run scored for the Rams offensively.

Game Two
Mobile jumped in the front with a run in the first inning on a Belhaven error, but the Blazers were able to get the run back in the home half of the first. Todd picked up her fifth run batted in of the day on a ground out to short that plated Porter from third.

The Rams pulled ahead again in the third with three runs before Belhaven fought back with three in the fourth. A two run double by Porter and an RBI single from Watson knotted the game at 4-4 heading to the fifth.

After keeping Mobile in check in the top of the fifth, the Blazers took the lead 5-4 in the home half on a two out RBI double to left off the bat of Hitt. Unfortunately, the one run advantage failed to hold up.

With two outs and runners on first and second in the seventh, Carley Toretta came to the plate representing the go ahead run for Mobile. She worked the count full against pitcher Ginger Lonergan and on the payoff delivery cleared the wall just to left of center for a three run home run. Mackensie Williams then retired the Blazers in order in the bottom of the seventh to preserve the win.

Lonergan (9-1) tossed all seven innings for Belhaven, allowing seven runs on 10 hits with two walks and one strikeout resulting in her first loss of the year. Porter had a hit, two runs batted in and a run scored to guide the Blazers at the dish. Watson, Todd, and Hitt each had a hit and one run batted in.

Williams pitched a complete game for the Rams to earn the win. Williams surrendered five runs on seven hits with four walks and four strikeouts. Ashley Middleton and Jordan Coleman had three hits apiece while Toretta had one hit and four runs batted in.

Belhaven will look to bounce back on Monday when the team hosts Tennessee Temple in a non-conference doubleheader at McLeod Field. The first pitch is slated for 1:00 PM.
