JACKSON, Miss.- The Belhaven men's and women's tennis teams hosted Loyola University on Saturday afternoon at the Belhaven Tennis Complex in Southern States Athletic Conference matches. Both teams notched victories over the Wolfpack with the men (12-3, 5-0 SSAC) winning 9-0, while the women (10-5, 4-1 SSAC) prevailed 6-3. The Blazer men have now won five straight and the women four.

In women's singles, the Blazer's No. 2 player Ainsley Wright defeated K. Borgoghoni 6-2, 6-2; Rachel Jeffcoat knocked off W. Dejoie 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 4 spot; Mary Lichlyter defeated A. Murcuso 6-0, 6-0; and on the No. 6 court, the Blazer's Elizabeth Chrestman got past L. Rojales 8-5.

In women's doubles, the duo of Katie Campbell and Ainsley Wright powered past Wiojcklauijse and Rojales 8-1 in the No. 2, and the No. 3 was won 8-1 over Dejoie and Mancuso by the Blazer's Rachel Jeffcoat and Mary Lichlyter.

In men's singles, the 8th ranked Blazers started off with a 6-4, 6-2 Andre Borghi defeat over T. Fingh in the No.1; Nikita Lisov topped F. Mercado 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 2; Jefferson Nino defeated D. Mayhall 8-2 in the No. 3; Daniel Prado knocked off E. Garcia 8-0 in the No. 4; David Mejia upended T. Benjamin 8-0 in the No. 5, and Enrico Patriarca won the No. 6 court by default.

In doubles, Mejia and Lisov bested Mercado and Mayhall 8-2 in the No. 1. This effort was followed by Borghi and Patriarca's 8-1 victory over Singh and Garcia in the No. 2. Prado and Nino won the No.3 court by default.

"There was not much of a recovery time from the matches last night with Carey," said Belhaven Head Coach Levi Patton. "Everyone got moving in the doubles matches, and this carried over to better play from both teams."

The Belhaven men and women will travel to Gainesville, GA to take part in the Brenau Roundup starting on Friday.
