PINEVILLE, LA.- The Belhaven men's and women's teams coasted both swept the Louisiana College Wildcats 9-0 on Tuesday night. The men improved to 3-1 on the season, and the women's team boosted their record to 3-2. Both teams currently ride a two match winning streak as they go into conference play.

In women's doubles, Stephanie Smith and Rachel Jeffcoat teamed up to knock off the Wildcats' Alex Marlin and Corey Dixon 8-0 while Mary Lichlyter and Brittany Keeling upended Palm Usry and Angelica Ross 8-0.

The Blazers continued to dominate in the women's singles event as well. Only one Blazer did not finish their set with straight points. Additionally, only two Wildcats scored points and only one game was won by the Wildcats.

The final singles results included Stephanie Smith defeating Alex Marlin 5-7. 6-3, (7-4), Rachel Jeffcoat topped Pam Usry 6-0, 6-0; Mary Lichlyter won against Angelica Ross 6-0, 6-0, and Ellen Scott slid past Corey Dixon 6-1-6-0.

The Belhaven men's tennis team posted almost identical results over the Wildcats in a 9-0 win. In men's doubles, Belhaven's Andres Yepez and Alex Puyol defeated Harper and Vezwyett 8-0 while Tomas Ojeda and Ignacio Osse flew past the Wildcat's Clayton and Twiner 8-0. Laclan Puyol and Harry Amor rounded out the double sweep by topping Free and Sylvester 8-0.

In men's singles, the Blazers stifled the Wildcats with a 6-0 record in that portion of the match. Andres Yepez got things started for the Blazers with a victory over Dillon Harper 6-1, 6-0. Ignacio Osse followed with a win over Chris Verzwyvett 6-0, 6-0 and Laclan Puyol defeated Westin Twiner 6-1, 6-0. The final three singles set went in the scorebook as follows; Tomas Ojeda defeated James Clayton 6-0, 6-1. Alex Puyol bested Conner Free 6-0, 6-1 and Harry Amor upended Andrew Sylvester 6-0, 6-1.

The men's and women's tennis teams will begin conference play as they travel to Mobile, AL to participate in the Mobile Roundup. The first match against Martin Methodist is set for 9:00. The Blazers will also play Emmanuel and the College of Coastal Georgia.
