MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Belhaven women's soccer team suffered their seventh loss of the season on Thursday, falling to Bethel University by a final of 3-0. With the loss, the Blazers remain winless in Southern States Athletic Conference action, while the Lady Wildcats picked up their second conference win in the last seven days.
After a scoreless first period, Bethel's Michelle Minchella found the back of the net eight minutes into the second half. Teammate Cierra Adams repeated the feat just 1:35 later to make it 2-0, and Melinda Sopka added the contest's final goal with less than eight minutes remaining in the contest.
Belhaven career saves leader
Nicole Walsh picked up five saves, while Lady Wildcat counterpart Danielle Krzyzaniak needed each of her six saves to ensure the team's third shutout victory of the season. Bethel outshot their hosts 14-9, including an 8-6 mark on frame, while Belhaven took a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks.
The Blazers return to action on Saturday, when they take on the Martin Methodist Lady Redhawks. The contest is set to begin at 5:00 pm.
