JACKSON, Miss. – The Belhaven volleyball team fell 3-1 to Mobile in a highly competitive Southern States Athletics Conference match on Saturday evening. The Blazers fall to 9-11 overall and 1-8 in SSAC play.
After dropping the first two sets 25-15, 25-19 respectively, the Blazers rebounded with a clutch 25-23 win in the third set. The Blazers later dropped the fourth and final set 27-25.
"I think we executed our game-plan, but Mobile made all the necessary adjustments to win," said head coach
Justin Dee.
Blaykleigh Smythe finished the evening with seven kills, on 13 total attacks. Smythe led all players on the court in hitting percentage with a .538 and no errors.
Molly Boyer paced the Blazers in kills with eight on a team high 22 total attacks. Aly Plyler and
Kelly Aholt finished with 14 assists apiece.
Abbey Herman and
Jackie Rhyne led the Blazers in digs with 11 each, while
Cassidy Fitzpatrick added 10 on the evening.
Mobile's Maegan Wilkins paced the floor with 14 kills.
The Blazers are back in action on Tuesday night as they host NCAA Division I Alcorn State in Rugg Arena. The first serve is set is for 7:00 pm.
