The Blazers pulled one game ahead of the Lady Barons in the Southern States Athletic Conference in a game that could decide the final spot for the conference tournament.
"Our girls have a lot to be proud of today. They came out prepared to take care of business and they did just that," Assistant Coach
Jessica Monarch said. "It was an emotional game and a huge victory."
After recognizing four seniors before the contest,
Haley Jezierski and
Laura Quintero teamed up to find the back of the net in the 18th minute. Brewton-Parker's Catherine Vare launched the equalizer 18 minutes later, but the tie only stood for eight minutes.
Samantha Incaprera assisted
Jessica Mahoney's team-best eighth goal of the season, giving the Blazers a 2-1 edge heading into halftime. Jezierski came out of the locker room firing, extending the lead to 3-1 less than three minutes into the second half.
Alyssa Duncan responded with a goal of her own that pull the Lady Barons within a goal, but Mahoney added another score in the 65th minute to seal the win for Belhaven. The Blazers now stand at 4-9-0, including 1-5-0 in conference action, while Brewton-Parker remains winless in league contests.
Belhaven outshot their guests 24-11, including a 15-6 mark a frame, while also taking a slight 5-3 advantage in set pieces. Brewton-Parker goalkeeper Teylor Alley picked up 11 saves, but Belhaven career saves leader
