JACKSON, Miss. – The Belhaven volleyball team fell to conference opponent Dalton State 3-0 on Friday night. The Roadrunners improve to 11-6 overall and 7-6 in SSAC play. 
 
"We put a lot into this game and there was a lot on the line tonight, but we didn't get the job done," said head coach Justin Dee. "Losing the first set the way we did killed our momentum, and we lost the opportunity to win the match."
 
Belhaven (12-16, 2-12 SSAC) recognized two seniors before the match began. Although the Blazers have one more home match tomorrow, Alyson Plyler and Erika LeFlore were honored in tonight's match.
 
Plyler and Leflore made their presence felt not only in tonight's match, but they have also been key players for the Blazers all season.
 
"Aly did a really good job of setting the ball for us tonight, as she has done all year," said Dee. "Erika has done well for us on setting the block and making others hit around her."
 
Molly Boyer led the offensive attack for the Blazers, tallying six kills. Plyler assisted on 14 of Belhaven's kills, while Kelly Aholt claimed seven of her own. The Roadrunners' Savannah Nelson led all players with nine kills on the night, while Michela Askew accumulated 18 assists.
 
Defensively for the Blazers, Jackie Rhyne contributed 14 digs for a team best, with Aholt following with 11 on the night. Amy Metzler of Dalton State finished her night with a floor high of 22 digs.
 
Tomorrow afternoon, the Blazers will be right back in action as they host Brenau in the final home match of the 2014 season. The match is set to begin at 1:00 pm.
