JACKSON, Miss. – The Belhaven women's soccer team fell to No. 13 University of Mobile on Thursday night by a final score of 4-0. The Blazers fell to 3-9-0 with the loss, while the Lady Rams remained atop the conference standings with a perfect 4-0 mark in league play.
"We fought hard in this game. We didn't come with a backup plan and Plan A was to play through anything thrown our way," Head Coach
Josue Sabillon said. "They played through injuries and challenges and I'm really proud of the way the played tonight."
Rachel Forestell got Mobile on the scoreboard in the 39
th minute, the only goal of the first half. Cayla Hebert, Madison Kindzierski and Leah Corse each added a goal in the second, widening the gap to a 4-0 victory.
The Lady Rams out shot the Blazers 32-1, including a 22-0 mark on frame, while also taking a 12-1 fouls in set pieces.
Nicole Walsh picked up 18 saves in the net for the Blazers to extend her own career record.
"She is the difference in a 10-0 game and a 3-0 game. She has been amazing," Sabillon said. "It's incredible how she has stepped up as a senior and led the team this year."
The Blazers are back in action on Saturday, October 25th, when they host Brewton-Parker College at the Bowl. The winner of the contest will earn the final spot in the Southern States Athletic Conference tournament. The match is set to begin at 1:00 pm, with Belhaven recognizing their four seniors prior to the opening whistle.
