MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Belhaven men's tennis team won the battle of two top ranked teams with an 8-1 match win over No. 15 Campbellsville University. The Blazers notched their first victory over a top team in the NAIA in the opening match of the Auburn-Montgomery Spring Invitational.
Belhaven's third doubles combination of
Daniel Prado and
Enrico Patriarca started the match off with a bang, recording a quick 8-0 victory over Alberto Diaz and Austin Colliver.
The next two doubles matches were not nearly as simple for the Blazers, but they managed to win in both flights by identical 8-6 scores. A sweep of doubles gave Belhaven a much needed 3-0 start entering singles competition.
Campbellsville got their first point of the day when Michael Rjazanov defeated
Nikita Lisov at first singles 6-4, 6-1. Lisov has seen some of the best players in the country in recent matches and thing won't get any easier for the transfer when the Blazers face Auburn-Montgomery.

Daniel Duarte, Prado and Patriarca all won the rest of the matches in straight sets to give the Blazers a commanding win over the Tigers.
