Box Score MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - The Belhaven volleyball team notched its second consecutive win in as many games after blanking Brewton-Parker 25-20, 25-20, and 25-21 in straight sets on Friday evening in Southern States Athletic Conference action. The Blazers improve to 8-15 on the season.
Senior Brittany Ammon's 10 kills led the Blazers offensively followed by sophomore
Brett Peveto with five kills on eight attempts without a single error. She also finished with a .625 hitting percentage.
It may not have been the team's best performance of the season, but it was huge conference victory for the Blazers. "We got to the gym after an eight hour drive with only 40 minutes to spare," said Belhaven Head Coach
Justin Dee. "It seemed as if we never got our best performance during the match, but we found a way to pull through for the win.''
The Blazers have notched wins in six straight sets and look to continue their success on Saturday afternoon at the College of Coastal Georgia. Before the Blazers take the floor again, Dee knows they have work to do.
"It is always good to get a conference win and to win 3-0 is a definite plus," Dee said. "We have huge gaps to work on, but it's nice to go out there and get a win going into a big match tomorrow."
The match versus the College of Coastal Georgia is set for 2:00 PM. The Mariners have won three consecutive matches and are unbeaten at home this season.
