Series vs. Bluefield (BU leads 1-0): This will be the second meeting between the Blazers and the Rams.

Quick Stat: Redshirt freshman quarterback Darrell Williams has emerged as a leader on offense after taking over the reigns as the starter in week three. Williams comes into the weekend with 617 yards passing and four TD passes. He is averaging 154.2 yards per game through the air. Just as important, Williams has only turned the ball over once via interception.

Player to Watch: Junior defensive back Brennan Dunklin is scheduled to return this week after an injury sidelined him the last two games. Despite being out of action for two games, Dunklin continues to lead the defense with three interceptions and ranks seventh in the NAIA in that same category. Dunklin also has eight tackles, a forced fumble, and fumble recovery in the stat sheet for 2013. The Blazers could use a spark on defense after allowing 40 plus points in each of the last three games. Dunklin could be the one to provide it.

Tale of the Tape: The Blazers and Rams find themselves in similar circumstances this weekend with both needing wins to snap extended losing skids. The offenses are producing nearly identical numbers with Belhaven holding a slight edge in total yards at 301-297.6 per game. Bluefield has been better on the ground with a 164 yards per game average compared to Belhaven's 128.6.

Coming into the season the rushing attack appeared to be Belhaven's strength on offense. However, it's the aerial attack that has been most effective with the emergence of Williams at quarterback. Having Deuce Coon back in the lineup at wide receiver the last two weeks has given Williams a major target to throw to. Coon is averaging 139.5 yards per game receiving and already has three touchdown catches. Coon is picking up 17.4 yards per catch on average in the two games. Key to the Contest: The offense put up big numbers during the late season run in 2012, but it was a dominating defense that set the tone for the team. Belhaven will need a big performance from its defense on Saturday to bring home a win and get things going in the right direction. The bye week allowed some playmakers to get healthy with Dunklin being one of them. Creating turnovers will be crucial and the pieces may be in place to do that this week.
