Box Score
COLUMBIA, Ky.- The Belhaven men's basketball team lost to 11th ranked Lindsey Wilson College on the road Friday night 90-57 to open the Lindsey Wilson College Classic. The Blazers trailed 38-24 at the break and managed to get within seven points early in the second half. However, the Blue Raiders responded with a 10-0 run enabling them to take over the game.

Belhaven (4-5) had the upper hand early, jumping out to an 11-7 lead with 15:34 on the first half clock. Curt Hall gave the Blazers their largest advantage of the night on a fast break layup. The first of two key scoring runs in the game by Lindsey Wilson (6-1) followed the Hall layup and gave the Blue Raiders control of the half. Darren Ballou and Chase Cox hit back to back triples that ignited a 12-2 run resulting in a 19-13 lead. Lindsey Wilson parlayed that into the 38-24 lead at halftime.

The Blazers regrouped and chopped the deficit to seven points on four different occasions early in the second half. Unfortunately, the Blue Raiders answered with quick baskets of their own to thwart the Belhaven comeback bid each time. With 11:50 to play in the game, Jordan Butts brought Belhaven to within seven for the fourth time at 51-44 on a layup just outside the paint.

Much like the first half, Lindsey Wilson went back to its bread and butter the three point shot to put the game away. Chris Bridges started the game changing run with a triple followed by a two point field goal to make it a 56-44 contest. Cox then added a three point bucket and then DeAntra Scott converted a Belhaven turnover into a fast break layup, capping the 10-0 run. Leading 61-44 with 10:37 left, Lindsey Wilson's lead wouldn't be threatened the rest of the night.

Belhaven (4-5) was led by Jordan Butts with 15 points followed by Curt Hall and Chris Cofield with eight points apiece. Hall and Datodrick Pinkston grabbed six rebounds to pace the Blazers on the boards. Cofield finished with a team high four assists and added a pair of steals.

As a team, Belhaven was 22 of 49 from the field (44.9 percent), 5 of 16 from three point range (31.3 percent), and 8 of 14 at the free throw line (57.1 percent). The Blazers matched Lindsey Wilson with 29 rebounds, but committed 23 turnovers.

The story of the night for Lindsey Wilson was a season high 14 triples on the night. Daronte' Clark powered the offense with 16 points, coming on the strength of four three pointers.
