Cleveland, TN-The Belhaven volleyball team fell to Shorter University 3-0 at the Southern States Athletic Conference crossover tournament hosted by Lee University on Friday afternoon. The final set scores were 18-25, 9-25, and 19-25.
Belhaven (13-5, 3-3 SSAC) struggled at the outset of the match losing game one and then could not recover as Shorter (15-5, 5-3 SSAC) took the match in straight sets.
Natalie Davis led the way for the Blazers with six kills and
Serita Ingram contributed four kills.
Erin Bradley had assists on 12 of the kills while coming up with five digs.
Gabriella Zorzoli led the Belhaven defense with 13 digs and
Katherine Owen ended the match with nine digs.
Shorter was led by the duo of Jasmine Crook and Jessica Cooper with eight kills apiece. Tori Bradley ended the match with seven kills while Leslie Welch and Loren Olive had six each. Jordan Corder had 27 assists and Taneque Whitman posted 22 digs.
Belhaven will play two more matches in the crossover tournament Saturday against Lee University at 10:00 and Brewton-Parker at 2:00 PM. The match with Brewton-Parker will be video streamed by the SSAC and can be viewed by clicking
