The Blazers swept the match 3-0 with final set scores of 25-15, 25-21, and 28-26. The Blazers have exploded out of the gate to begin the season as they improved to 3-0 with the victory. Belhaven has now won seven straight sets with back to back three set sweeps in each of their last two matches. Alcorn State is now 0-4 to start the year.

Christina Atwood had a big night for Belhaven leading the way with 14 kills while Erin Bradley tallied 29 assists. Samantha O'Malley registered six kills and on defense dug out seven Alcorn State attack attempts. Natalie Davis and Taylor Williams joined O'Malley registering six kills each and Siobhan Hardy had four digs in the contest. Katherine Owen had five digs on defense to go along with one ace.

“I was really pleased with how we played tonight especially since this was the first time we have been on the road this season,” said Belhaven Head Coach Ashley Stathas. “We came out strong in the first two sets which was big for us. The third set was tight, but the girls stayed calm and pulled through for the victory.”

Belhaven will be back in action on Tuesday night when they return to Rugg Arena to meet up with Tougaloo College starting at 7:00 PM.
