Box Score
JACKSON, Miss.-The Belhaven men's basketball team suffered a two point loss at Tougaloo College Saturday night 72-70 in the final game of the Tougaloo College Classic. The Bulldogs scored the game winner on a tip-in with less than a second to play to record the win.

Belhaven (3-8) started out strong by opening up a 33-26 halftime lead. The second half belonged to Tougaloo as the Bulldogs outscored the Blazers 46-37 in the final 20 minutes. Trailing by nine points with about two minutes to play, Belhaven mounted a furious come back to tie the game with less than 20 seconds to go on a put back dunk by junior forward Andrew Marshall. However, on the final possession Tougaloo would end the game with three looks at the basketball. The Bulldogs failed to find the bottom of the net on their first two tries, but thanks to a pair of offensive rebounds they kept it alive for the game winning bucket.

Senior forward Daryl Arnold and senior guard Woodie Howard guided the Belhaven offense with 17 points apiece. Marshall grabbed a game high 13 rebounds and added seven points in the game. Marshall has been a dominating force on the glass so far this year averaging 6.3 rebounds per game. Junior guard Jordan Butts picked up five assists and had three steals to go along with seven points. The Blazers hit 41.3 percent of their field goals (26-63), but struggled at the free throw line going 10 for 20, with all the attempts coming in the second half.

Tougaloo (7-4) had four different players in double figures led by Marquise Mims with a game high 21 points. He also hauled in 10 rebounds for the double double and came up with four blocked shots. Kadon Day also had a double double night for the Bulldogs on the strength of 15 points and 10 boards. Horace Whitehead poured in 15 points and Donteeno Todd chipped in with 10 points and four assists. Tougaloo drilled 41.8 percent of its field goals (23-55) and were 18 of 35 at the free throw line (51.4 percent). The Bulldogs enjoyed a slight rebounding advantage at 37-36.

Belhaven will return to the court on Friday December 16th when they host Southern Wesleyan University in a Southern States Athletic Conference battle in Rugg Arena. The tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
