Blazers Upended by NCAA Division I Jackson State

Jackson, MS-The Belhaven volleyball ran into a tough NCAA Division I foe on Friday night as Jackson State University topped the Blazers in a non-conference matchup 3-0. The final set scores were 17-25, 20-25, and 20-25. The Tigers extend their match win streak to 16 with Friday's victory.

Belhaven (18-9) struggled to find a rhythm in the match dropping the first set which set the tone for the rest of the night. Belhaven was led by Christina Atwood with 10 kills and also added two block assists. Samantha O'Malley followed Atwood with eight kills while Erin Bradley added 29 assists. Gabriella Zorzoli had a team high 11 digs.

Jackson State (19-9) had a big night from Christine Edwards who led all attackers with 20 kills while Paige Williams ended the evening with eight kills, four aces, and three solo blocks. Krishauna Kindall and Daedra Carline paced the Tigers with 11 digs. LaToya Clark contributed 10 digs in the match and had a match high 35 assists.

Belhaven will be back in action on Saturday night when they host Loyola University in a Southern States Athletic Conference match beginning at 6:00 PM.
