Blazers Can’t Get Past Faulkner

Montgomery, AL- The Belhaven Women's volleyball team traveled to Faulkner University for a Southern States Athletic Conference match Tuesday night and fell in three sets. The Eagles defeated the Blazers with the final scores of 26-24, 25-13, and 25-12. The loss brings the Blazers season record to 9-14 and 0-7 in SSAC play.

Belhaven played well the first set before Faulkner took control of the match in the second and third sets. The Eagles offensive attack produced thirty eight kills, nine aces and on defense tallied forty four digs. Neysa Hernandez led the Eagles on the night with 10 kills, 10 digs and 1 block. Faulkner is now 13-18 and 2-5 in SSAC play and with the win clinches a spot in the SSAC Tournament.

Christina Atwood led the Blazers with eight kills and one block assist. Erinn Hampton followed up with seven kills and nine digs. Erin Bradley and Samantha O'Malley had eight digs each. Bradley also had a team high 18 assists in 55 attempts. As a team, Belhaven recorded 21 kills, 4 aces, and 44 digs.

Tuesday's loss eliminates Belhaven from the SSAC tournament, but they still hope to finish the season strong in their final two matches. The Blazers will travel to Jackson State University on Tuesday November 2nd at 7:00 PM and will then host Spring Hill College in their final match on Saturday November 6th at Rugg Arena beginning at 2:00 PM.
