Blazers Come up Empty at Mobile

Mobile, AL-The Belhaven volleyball team traveled to Mobile, AL on Friday night and fell for the second time this season to the University of Mobile 3-0 in Southern States Athletic Conference action. The final set scores in the match were 15-25, 18-25, and 20-25.

Mobile (13-12, 5-1 SSAC West) dominated from start to finish on Friday night using the momentum from a strong first game to take the match in three straight sets. Katie Dowd had a big night for the Rams racking up 12 kills in 22 attack attempts. Kelly Sherling also had a strong night with 11 kills. Sherling also had a match high nine digs while Charlotte Stutts added three aces and six digs.

Belhaven (9-12, 0-5 SSAC West) was led on the offensive side of the net by Christina Atwood who turned in eight kills. Taylor Williams and Erinn Hampton both chipped in with seven kills each. Samantha O'Malley posted a team high six digs on defense while Leigh Anne Huddleston contributed four digs and three serving aces on the night. Setter Erin Bradley made good on 31 assists in 70 attempts.

Belhaven will look for their first conference win on Saturday afternoon when they visit Spring Hill College for an SSAC West division contest. The Badgers are having a solid season and enter the match with an overall record of 21-2 and boast a 3-1 mark in SSAC play. The match is scheduled to get underway at 3:00 PM.
