Jackson, MS- The Belhaven women's Volleyball team hosted their second Tri-Match of the season going 1-1 on the night. The Blazers took on Xavier University's Gold Nuggets in the first match and cross town rival Millsaps College in the second. The Blazers defeated Xavier University in three sets with the final scores of 25-12, 25-23, and 25- 14. In the second match Millsaps College defeated the Blazers in four sets with the final scores of 21-25, 25-23, 20-25, and 11-25. The Blazers are now 9-11 on the season.

The Blazers came out smoking in the first match against Xavier finishing off the first set quite rapidly. Xavier then put up a tough fight in the second set, but the Blazers managed to handle their rally. The Blazers dominated the third set from beginning to end. The Blazers were led against Xavier by Christina Jaques with ten kills and five digs. Leigh-Anne Huddleston and Christina Atwood both turned in seven kills each. Katie Owen paced Belhaven in digs with nine while Erin Bradley led the Blazers in assists with 27. As a team the Blazers turned in 30 digs and 34 kills.

In the second match Millsaps struck first beating the Blazers in the opening set. Belhaven rallied back in the second set to pull out a 25-23 game two win and even the match at 1-1. The Blazers then let the match get out of control losing the last two sets and could never recover after a tough third set. Christina Atwood led the Blazers in kills with 12 followed by Taylor Williams with 11. Christiana Jaques led the Blazers with 15 digs followed by Erinn Hampton and Erin Bradley who each had nine. Bradley also had a team high 33 assists. As a team, Belhaven clocked in 44 kills, 63 digs and 37 assists.

The Blazers will be back in SSAC play against the University of Mobile, at Mobile on Friday October 22nd at 7:30 PM.
