Jackson, Miss-The Belhaven volleyball team ran into some solid competition Friday night at the Millsaps Invitational when they faced off against the undefeated Union University and cross town rival Millsaps College in the Hangar Dome.

 

The Lady Blazers (2-2) put up a hard fight, but fell short against the Lady Bulldogs of Union University (7-0) 21-25, 25-17, 20-25, and 12-25. Against Millsaps College, Belhaven lost in four games by the final scores of 19-25, 26-28, 30-28, and 12-25.

 

In the Union University match, Belhaven was led by freshman middle blocker and outside hitter Christina Jacques with 10 kills and two aces, while freshmen setter Erin Bradley contributed 28 assists and 19 digs. Christina Jacques, Christina Atwood, and Erin Bradley each added two solo blocks. Atwood led the Lady Blazers with 12 kills, one ace, and three block assists against Millsaps College. Bradley paced the team with 39 assists, while Jacques supplied 18 digs and one solo block. Sam O'Malley, Atwood, Bradley, and Taylor Williams each contributed one ace.
