Mobile, AL-The Belhaven volleyball team heads to Mobile Alabama this weekend for the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Tournament hosted by the University of Mobile. The Blazers enter the tournament with an overall record of 17-18 and finished the season tied for third at 5-5 in the GCAC. Belhaven finished the season strong having won seven of their last ten games which included an upset of Loyola University on October 20th.

The Blazers are in Pool B and will face Loyola at 3:00 PM followed by Southern University of New Orleans at 7:00 PM. The top two teams from each pool will advance to the tournament semifinals on Saturday afternoon. Belhaven, Loyola, and SUNO comprise Pool B while the University of Mobile, Dillard University, and Spring Hill College are in Pool A.

Belhaven is led by Christina Jaques who has 359 total kills, Christina Atwood with 279 kills, and Erin Bradley who has 1,113 assists so far in 2009. Bradley and Taylor Williams have both been strong on defense with 345 digs and 331 digs respectively. The winner of the tournament earns an automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament Opening round November 21st.
