Blazers Split a Pair of Matches on Saturday at Jackson State University Tri-Match

Jackson, MS-The Belhaven College volleyball team split a pair of hard-hitting matches at the Jackson State University Tri-Match on Saturday afternoon. The Blazers won the first match of the day over Texas Southern University 3-1 with final scores of 25-17, 24-26, 25-22, and 25-10. Belhaven lost their second match to Jackson State University 3-1 with final scores of 12-25, 25-21, 14-25, and 14-25.
 
On the offensive side of the net against Texas Southern University, Christina Jaques and Christina Atwood paced the Blazers with 13 kills each. Erin Bradley led with 34 assists. Christina Jaques had three aces followed by Taylor Williams with two aces. Belhaven played very strong on the defensive side of the net. Erin Bradley lead with an impressive 25 digs followed by Taylor Williams with 13 digs and Christina Jaques with 12 digs. Christina Jaques had two solo blocks followed by Sam O'Malley, Kourtney Clark, Christina Atwood, and Erin Bradley who each contributed one solo block. Kourtney Clark and Erin Bradley led with three blocking assists each, trailed by Christina Atwood with two blocking assists.
 
In the second match against Jackson State University, Erin Hampton led Belhaven on the offensive side of the court with 14 kills followed Christina Jaques and Sam O'Malley who each added seven kills. Erin Bradley led the Blazers with 27 assists and Christina Jaques led with two aces. On defensive, Erin Bradley paced the Blazers with 12 digs while Taylor Williams who contributed 10 digs. Christina Atwood led with one solo block and Kourtney Clark led Belhaven in blocking assists with two.
 
The Belhaven College volleyball team is now 10-11 overall is and set to do battle again on Tuesday night with a home match against Dillard University in Gulf Coast Athletic Conference action. The match is slated for 7:00 PM.
