Alcorn State, MS-The Belhaven volleyball team had a strong performance Friday night as they defeated NCAA Division I Alcorn State University in three games 25-15, 25-14, and 25-22. The Blazers are 13-15 overall this season.

 

The Braves could not prevent Belhaven from scoring on the offensive side of the net. The Blazers were paced by junior Christina Jaques with 10 kills followed by sophomore Christina Atwood with eight kills. Freshman Erin Bradley led with 30 assists while Kourtney Clark and Taylor Williams both contributed three aces.

 

On defense, Belhaven was led by Sam O'Malley who contributed 11 digs trailed by Williams with eight digs. Atwood had two solo blocks and Williams added in one solo block. Atwood led the team with three blocking assists and Erin Hampton added in two blocking assists.

 

Against Alcorn State, the Blazers had a total of 35 kills, 31 assists, seven aces, 41 digs, three solo blocks, and six blocking assists.
