Blazers Top Spring Hill 3-1 in GCAC Action Tuesday Afternoon

Jackson, MS-The Belhaven College women's volleyball team was victorious Tuesday afternoon in Gulf Coast Athletic Conference action defeating Spring Hill College in four games 25-17, 25-22, 24-26, and 25-21. Belhaven is now 11-15 overall and 1-3 in GCAC play. The Badgers drop to 6-11 overall and have a 2-4 conference record. 
 
The Blazers were focused and ready to play on the offensive side of the net. Christina Atwood and Taylor Williams led the Blazers with 14 kills each followed by Christina Jaques with 11 kills. Kourtney Clark added eight kills, and Sam O'Malley had five kills. Freshman setter Erin Bradley led with 45 assists. Kourtney Clark led with three aces followed by Jaques, Williams, Bradley, and Erin Hampton who each contributed one ace.
 
The Blazers defense dominated Spring Hill by only allowing them to win one of the four games. Bradley had an outstanding 21 digs followed by Williams with 20 digs, Jaques with 16 digs, and Jessica Akiona added in 10 digs. Atwood and Williams each had one solo block. Clark led with four blocking assists followed by Jaques with three blocking assists, Atwood with two blocking assists, and Bradley with one blocking assist.
 
Against the Badgers, Belhaven produced a total of 58 kills, 53 assists, seven aces, 93 digs, two solo blocks, and 10 blocking assists.
 
The Blazers will hit the road and face Alcorn State University Friday evening. Friday's start time is slated for 7:00 PM.
