New Orleans, LA-The Belhaven women's volleyball team couldn't get past Loyola University in the opening round of the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference tournament losing 3-0 to the host school. Belhaven's record slides to 9-25 overall while the Lady Wolfpack improves to 16-8 and moves on to the semifinal.
It was a tough match for the Lady Blazers as Loyola had control in each of the three games.
Erinn Hampton led the Belhaven offensive attack with seven kills.
Kelsey Stack was active on the offensive and defensive side of the ball by assisting in 16 points while digging out 12 Lady Wolfpack attacks. Stack also chipped in with one solo block while
Jessica Davis contributed added 12 digs and slammed three aces.
Loyola was paced by Gina Gill with 14 kills and Sarah Howard had 29 assists in the Loyola victory.
Belhaven will play in an elimination match Saturday morning at 9 against Dillard University. Dillard lost to Spring Hill 3-2 in the day's second match. The Lady Blazers went 1-2 against the Lady Blue Devils during the regular season. Loyola moves on to face Spring Hill College in a semifinal match at 3 PM.
