Jackson, Miss- Belhaven saw a two game winning streak come to a end Tuesday night as the Lady Blazers dropped their Gulf Coast Athletic Conference opener to a strong Loyola University team, 18-25, 25-20, 9-25, 10-25. The Lady Wolfpack played in just their second match of the season due to eight matches being postponed by Hurricane Gustav.

 

Loyola jumped out on top early with a 25-18 win in game one. Belhaven battled back in game two to tie the match at one with a 25-20 win. From that point forward, the Lady Wolfpack took control of the match and secured the win.

 

Belhaven was led by Erinn Hampton and Kourtney Clark with 12 and 11 kills respectively. Kelsey Stack had 30 assists and Jessica Akiona chipped in with twelve digs.

 

With the loss the Lady Blazers fall to 3-5 and 0-1 in GCAC. They return to action this Friday night when they take on Harding University in their opening game at the University of Arkansas-Monticello Tri-Match beginning at 7:30.
