Jackson, MS-The Belhaven Lady Blazers volleyball team snapped a three match losing streak in fine fashion Friday defeating Paul Quinn College and cross-town rival Millsaps in the Belhaven College Tri-Match. Belhaven opened up the day with a convincing win over Paul Quinn in three games 25-20, 25-11, and 25-12. The Lady Blazers were led in kills by Kourtney Clark with 18 and Ku'ulei Moses with 16. Kelsey Stack added 25 assists and Clark also contributed four aces.

           

The matchup with the Lady Majors proved to be a back and forth battle all the way to the end. Millsaps took the early advantage with a game one win of 24-26. Belhaven did not back down bouncing back to claim the next two games by margins of 25-22 and 25-23. The Lady Majors then responded by taking game four 25-20 to tie the match at four games a piece. In the fifth and deciding game Belhaven jumped out to an early lead and survived a late rally by Millsaps to close out the game and the match 15-12.

            
Christina Atwood led the offensive attack for Belhaven with 17 kills while Kelsey Stack contributed 38 assists. Jessica Akiona added 21 digs in the winning effort. With the wins Belhaven improves to 3-5 on the season and will be back in action Tuesday night when they play host to Loyola University. Tuesday's game is set to get underway at 7:00 PM.
