Belhaven Topped by Spring Hill

Jackson, Miss-The Lady Blazers remained winless in Gulf Coast Athletic Conference play Tuesday night losing to Spring Hill in four games 30-28, 16-25, 21-25, and 20-25. Belhaven is now 6-19 overall and 0-5 in league play. The Lady Badgers improve to 12-15 and even their conference record at 3-3.
 
Belhaven started out strong taking game one 30-28 after the game had gone back and forth the entire way. However, in game two Spring Hill took the momentum and cruised to the victory. The Lady Blazers would fight hard in the final two games to keep the match close but couldn't make some key plays down the stretch to overcome the Lady Badger attack.
 
A trio of Lady Blazers led the offensive attack including Christina Atwood, Erinn Hampton, and Kourtney Clark with nine kills each. Kelsey Stack also had 28 assists and five aces on the night. Defensively, Belhaven was paced by Mary Jeanne Kenyon with 14 digs, Clark had four solo blocks, and Atwood had two solo blocks and two assists.
 
The Lady Blazers return to action this Friday in the Millsaps College Tri-Match beginning at 7 PM.
