MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Belhaven women's cross country team competed at the Rhodes College Invitational at Shelby Farms Saturday morning.
In a meet surrounded by NCAA Division I, II and III institutions, the Blazers finished 18th out of 20 overall teams, 13th place with non-NCAA Division I institutions. The Green and Gold tallied 504 points, and totaled 2:00.40 on the clock.
Kathryn Lee, in her first 5K run of the year, led the way for the Blazers, finishing 91st out of 163 runners with a time of 21:13.6, a new personal best for the senior by 0.8 seconds. The Okotoks, Alberta native's previous best came Oct. 10, 2015 at Disney's Wide World of Sports, finishing with a time of 21:14.4.
Brooklyn Schumaker improved her season best 5K time by 48 seconds, finishing 99th with a 21:25.4.
Ann Louise McGee also showed improvement from her first 5K meet last week at UT-Tyler, as she crossed the line at 25:22.03, 44 seconds faster than last week's run.
Madison Schumaker shedded her personal best by 2:21 with a 26:19.00 finish in the meet.
Joanna Ayers and
Celine Rogers wrapped up the Belhaven scoring, crossing the finish lines at 26:20.8 and 29:16.8, respectively.
The Blazers return to the course Saturday, Oct. 1 at East Texas Baptist.
