JACKSON, Miss. - The Belhaven University Athletics Department had a lot of great moments in the 2015 calendar year.
From All-America selections to conference championships, school records to National Tournament/Championship appearances, Rivalry victories to great performances; there were several moments that the Blazers excelled on the court, field, or track over the last 12 months.
Our fourth of 15 top moments (in no order) in 2015 for Belhaven Athletics goes to the Belhaven Cross Country team and runners
Doug Mumme and
Ben Storment.
The duo put together some of their best performances of their careers this season and capped it off early in 2015 with strong performances at The Walt Disney Cross Country Classic at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
Mumme led the way for Belhaven with a 27:24.20 finish, while Storment crossed the finish line 35 seconds later at 27:59.50.
With their times at the meet, both Mumme and Storment earned their first-ever bids to the National Championships in Houghton, New York.
For Belhaven, it was the first time in school history that multiple men's cross country runners had qualified for the same National Championship event.
A few weeks later,
Alex Ntagawa would go on to qualify as well, sending the three Blazers to the National Championships, a school record.
