PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. – The Belhaven Men's Golf team wrapped up the 2015 NCCAA National Championships at The Hombre Course, as
Andy Bartelt led the way for the Blazers.
Bartelt finished third in the tournament, firing a two-over-par, 74 final round to finish at nine-over, 225, two strokes behind the co-leaders for medalist honors.
With the finish, Bartelt earns NCCAA All-America status, the first Blazer in school history to be recognized with an All-America award in Men's Golf.
"Andy continued to show great play and just barely missed making the playoff. He is unshakeable on the course," said head coach
Dan Lickness. If a few more putts went his way, he would have won. He is truly a delight to watch."
Trey Render finished in 27th of 66 tournament participants with a 241.
Zach Warden finished with a 252 for the 54-hole tournament, while
KJ Coakley finished two strokes behind Warden at 254.
Wayne Stone rounded out the Belhaven scoring with a 262.
Entering into the final round, the 12-team, 66-player field was cut to nine teams and 48 players. As a team, the Blazers finished in seventh, with a team score of 320 in the final round and a 971 for the three-round tournament.
"All the guys battled this week," Lickness added. It was a tough golf course that punished errant shots. We had a few misses, but I am proud of the fight that all of them showed this week."
The NCCAA Championships ends the fall schedule for the Blazers. Head coach Lickness and the Blazers Men's Golf Team will announce their spring schedule later in the semester.
