KANSAS CITY, Mo-The Belhaven women's basketball team jumped one spot to number 15 in the seventh regular season edition of the 2011-12 NAIA Division I Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll, the national office announced Monday. The Blazers were ranked 16th in last week's poll and started the year ranked 25th in the preseason poll. This week's ranking is the highest for the team so far this season.
Belhaven boasts an overall record of 19-5 and 12-1 in Southern States Athletic Conference play following a 1-0 week that saw the Blazers pick up a 78-52 victory at Auburn-Montgomery on Saturday. The Blazers own the top spot in the SSAC West Division by one game over Loyola University (NO). The Blazers will host the University of Mobile on Thursday night at 5:30 PM and will travel to William Carey University on Saturday at 2:00 PM.
Fellow SSAC members represented in this week's poll are Lee University (4th), Loyola University (20th), and Shorter University is 23rd.
