Jackson, MS-Head Coach
Hill Denson and the Belhaven baseball program would like to announce the signings of Michael Wurster and Chad Wardlaw for the 2012 season.
Wurster, an infielder and outfielder from Spring, TX, compiled a .420 batting average with 10 doubles and 32 runs batted in for the MtB Mustangs during his senior season (Home School). He was also 10 for 11 in stolen base attempts and was named the 2011 Offensive Player of the Year. Wurster hit over .400 in each of his four varsity seasons and in 2011 was named as a Home school All-American for the second consecutive year. “Michael is a raw athlete that can really hit,” says Denson. “He has a good arm and can play a lot of positions and is a good addition to our club.”
Wardlaw, an outfielder, comes to Belhaven as a transfer from Northwest Mississippi Community College. Wardlow, a native of Olive Branch, MS, posted a .359 batting average with four doubles, two triples, one home run, and swiped 21 bases in 23 attempts this past season. He was also a First Team All-State and All-Region selection along with being a Team Captain in 2011. “Chad is a very good outfielder that can really, really run,” says Denson. “He is a left handed hitter that can do a lot of things with the bat and we are really excited to have him join us next year. With the loss of three good senior outfielders, we needed to fill those spots with some quality guys. I think Chad will fit in great.”
