Former Blazer Pitcher Craig Westcott Called up to Double A Richmond

Richmond, VA-Former Belhaven right handed pitcher Craig Westcott has been called up to the Richmond Flying Squirrels, the Double A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. The Giants picked Westcott in the 30th round of the 2009 Major League Baseball draft and he has pitched well since joining the organization.

Westcott, a native of Chalmette, LA, began this season with the Single A San Jose Giants and went 6-0 with a 1.83 ERA. He made 13 appearances all in a starting role and struck out 53 hitters in 68.2 innings of work. Westcott holds the Belhaven single season records for most strikeouts with 124 and most shutouts with five. In 2009, Westcott was named the winner of 2009 Cellular South Ferriss Trophy awarded each year to Mississippi's top college baseball player as determined by Major League scouts, college coaches and a media representative.
