Hattiesburg, MS-Belhaven Head Softball Coach Rick Fremin was named as the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Coach of the Year when the announcement was made by the league on Monday.

Coach Fremin is in his fifth season as Belhaven's Head Coach and has guided the Blazers to a 50-8 record this season and a GCAC regular season championship thanks to a 13-3 mark in conference play. The 50 victories set a new Belhaven school record for most wins in a season helping lead to a number five ranking in the latest NAIA Top 25 Poll. In just five short years Fremin has become the program's winningest softball coach, producing six All-Americans, Two Regional Appearances, and his teams have broken nearly every school record.

Belhaven is awaiting word on a potential at large bid to the NAIA National Tournament in Decatur, AL May 20th through the 26th.
