Kansas City, MO-The Belhaven baseball team fell four spots to number 14 in the Final NAIA Baseball Coaches' Top 25 Poll when it was announced by the NAIA on Wednesday afternoon.
Belhaven owns an overall record of 40-15 following three games in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Tournament this past weekend. The Blazers were upset by Loyola University in the opening round, topped the University of Mobile in the losers bracket, but were knocked out by LSU-Shreveport who went on to win the conference tournament championship. LSU-Shreveport climbed three spots landing at number nine in the final NAIA Top 25 Poll. The Pilots own an overall record of 47-11 after going 5-1 in the GCAC Tournament.
Belhaven will now await word on a potential at large bid to the 2010 NAIA Baseball National Championship Opening round which will be played May18th through the 21st. The tournament field is expected to be announced late Thursday night. Belhaven is also one of 11 finalists to host one of the nine opening round sites. The host sites will also be announced when the teams making the tournament are released. The opening round brackets with team site assignments will be released on Friday afternoon.
