Kansas City, MO-For the first time in the programs history, the Belhaven University softball team will make a trip to the NAIA National Softball Championship May 20th through the 26th in Decatur, AL. The Blazers, ranked 6th in the final NAIA Top 25 Poll, received one of six at-large bids after having compiled an overall record of 50-8 while winning the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Regular Season Championship.
Belhaven drew one of eight number one seeds and will open pool play against Northwood (TX) on Thursday May 20th at 7:30 PM. There are a total of eight pools with four teams in each pool. The winner of each pool will move on to an eight team double elimination bracket tournament. Joining Belhaven and Northwood in Pool F are Dickinson State (N.D.) and Columbia (MO) who the Blazers played earlier in the season on their road trip to Chicago. The winner of Pool F will take on the winner of Pool C in the first game of bracket play. Concordia (Ore.), Simon Fraser (B.C.), Lindsey Wilson (KY), and Bellevue (Neb.) are in Pool C.
