Blazers Sign Kiara Johnson for 2010-11 Season

Jackson, MS-Head Coach Billy Evans and the Belhaven University women's basketball program would like to announce the signing of Kiara Johnson for the 2010-11 season.

Johnson, a native of Wiggins, MS, is a transfer from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and averaged 16.7 points per game for the Lady Bulldogs. Johnson, a 5'5 point guard also averaged three steals and three assists per contest last season. Johnson took part in the MACJC All-Star Game on March 25th and was selected as the game's MVP.

“I chose Belhaven so I could go into Pre-Law and also play basketball,” Johnson said of her choice to attend Belhaven. “It's a very good school and I'm looking forward to the opportunity to play at the next level.”

Belhaven University is a member of the NAIA, Mid-South Conference and sponsors 13 intercollegiate sports, and will play in the Southern States Athletic Conference in 2010. Belhaven is an institution that focuses on preparing students academically and spiritually to serve Christ Jesus.
