Britney Webb set the NAIA single season stolen base record on Tuesday afternoon in game one of a doubleheader at the University of Mobile. Webb stole three bases against the Rams and is now 71 for 77 in stolen bases in the 2010 season with six regular season games to play. Webb also claimed the NAIA record for most stolen bases in a career with 204 thanks to her 71 steals so far this year.
Webb, a senior from Mobile, AL, eclipsed the previous single season mark of Heather Tang from William Woods University which was set in 1997. The previous record for most stolen bases in a career was held by Amanda Addie of Point Loma Nazarene University. Addie played at Point Loma Nazarene from 2005-2008. Webb is batting .475 with four home runs 11 triples, 13 doubles, and 49 RBI's this season.
The Blazers, currently ranked 6th in the latest NAIA Top 25 Poll, own an overall record of 44-6 and are 11-3 in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference. Belhaven will battle Spring Hill College in a GCAC doubleheader Thursday afternoon at Freedom Ridge Park starting at 3:00 PM.
