Hattiesburg, MS-Jira Williams of the Belhaven women's basketball team was named to the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference All-Conference Team when the selections were announced by the league on Friday.

Williams, a senior forward from New Orleans, LA, led the Blazers in scoring with 11.8 points per game in 2009-10. On defense, Williams tied with Courtney Ward with a team high 70 steals ranking them fourth in the GCAC in that category. Williams was second on the team in blocks with 14 and worked hard on the boards all season averaging 4.36 rebounds per contest.

Belhaven finished the 2009-10 season with an overall record of 14-17 and fought hard in the GCAC tournament defeating Dillard University in the tournament opener 67-57. The Blazers made an upset bid against Xavier in the quarterfinals, but the top seeded Gold Nuggets made a late push to pull out the win in what proved to be Belhaven's season finale.
