Hattiesburg, MS-Belhaven Head Men's Basketball Coach Tom Kelsey was named as the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Coach of the Year when the announcement was made by the league on Friday.

Coach Kelsey is in his fifth season as Belhaven's Head Coach and has guided the Blazers to a 23-8 record and their second consecutive appearance in the GCAC Tournament semifinals. Belhaven finished the regular season in a three way tie for second place at 12-6 in the GCAC standings and are the third seed in this year's conference tournament. The 23 victories set a new Belhaven school record for most wins in a season and the 2009-10 campaign is the first 20 plus win season since 1978.

Belhaven will battle Tougaloo College on the road in the GCAC Tournament semifinals Saturday night starting at 7:00 PM. The Blazers opened their tournament run on Thursday night with a convincing 71-56 win over Xavier.
