Hattiesburg, MS-Belhaven men's soccer player Juan Rodriguez was selected as the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts against top ranked Bethel College (TN) and Bryan College on September 4^th and 5^th.

                                           

Rodriguez, a native if Kenner, LA, scored a goal in both the Bethel and Bryan College matches including the game winner against the Lions on Saturday night. Rodriguez picked up right where he left off a season ago when he led the team in goals with 16 and points with 35 in 2008. After the first two matches in 2009, he has a total of two goals and four points.

 

Belhaven went 1-1 in their first two matches of the season losing to Bethel College 2-1 in the opener while rebounding for a 2-0 victory over Bryan. The Blazers return to action Tuesday night when they travel to Louisiana College for a 7:00 PM kickoff.
