Jackson, MS-Head Coach
Hill Denson and the Belhaven baseball program would like to announce the signing of catcher Derek Tortorich and pitcher Kiel Higginbotham for the 2010 season.
Tortorich, a native of Picayune, MS, comes to Belhaven after having played at Pearl River Community College in 2009. Tortorich compiled a .380 batting average, collected eight doubles, and had two home runs.
"Derek is a big strong guy that can add some pop to our team and some depth at the catching position,” says Coach Denson. “We are glad to have him and he is a great team guy that wants to win."
Higginbotham, a native of Louisville, MS, will play his first season in a Blazer uniform after having pitched at East Central Community College last year. “Kiel is a big right handed pitcher that will add a quality arm to our staff,” says Coach Denson. “He will hopefully come in and pitch a lot for us. It never hurts to have a lot of pitching depth and Kiel will definitely help with that.”
Belhaven College is a member of the NAIA, Gulf Coast Athletic Conference, and Mid-South Conference and sponsors 13 intercollegiate sports.
