Jackson, MS-Head Coach
Hill Denson and the Belhaven baseball program would like to announce the signing of outfielder Paul Moreno for the 2010 season.
Moreno, a native of San Antonio, TX, comes to Belhaven after having played at Navarro College in 2009. Moreno compiled a .292 batting average for Navarro last season. As a freshman in 2008, Moreno was a member of the New Mexico State baseball team where he recorded a .333 batting average and a 1.000 fielding percentage in 18 games played.
Moreno played baseball for four years at Tom C. Clark High School in San Antonio, Texas where he patrolled centerfield for the Cougars and helped the team to a 19-9 record and a district championship in 2007 as a senior. He was named to the first-team All-SA5AB for his play in the outfield in 2007 and also made all-district that season.
In 2007, he hit .420 with two homeruns and went 12-for-12 on stolen base attempts playing only half a season due to injury. In 2006, he had a 1.000 fielding percentage, hit .373 and had 13 stolen bases on 13 attempts.
Moreno chose Belhaven over The Univ. of Memphis, Sam Houston St., Lewis-Clark St., West Alabama, and Embry Riddle University. He is the son of Antonio and Debbie Moreno and plans to major in Communications.
Belhaven College is a member of the NAIA, Gulf Coast Athletic Conference, and Mid-South Conference and sponsors 13 intercollegiate sports.
