Green Uses Late Inning Rally to take Game 3

Jackson, MS-The green team got an early run in the first behind a sac fly from Timmy Foster and that would be the last time the Green team would cross the plate for six innings. Paul Hoffman used everything he had to keep the Green hitters off-balance. He threw six innings of one run baseball and left the game with a commanding 4-1 White team lead.
The white team managed to scratch the board in the 3rd behind a John Michael Williamson single and a couple of Green team defensive miscues. They scratched for one more run in the fourth off of Green team starter Andy Kuehn who threw 5 innings giving up four runs. That was all the White team could get as reliever Graham Upshaw entered in the 6th for the Green team and shut the White teams bats down.The Green team was all but finished when Justin Hill managed a two out full count single in the top of the 7th.
That was the boost the Green team needed as they exploded for six runs with two outs off of White team relievers Kyle Higginbotham and Matt Carter. Craig Dean was credited with driving in the winning run as he was hit by the first pitch he saw from Carter. Graham Upshaw earned his first win of the series as Kyle Higginbotham took the loss and the Green took a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series.
The White team was led at the plate by John Michael WIllamson who had two hits, an RBI and a run scored and Alex Riser who had two hits and a run scored. Jordan Brewer also had an RBI for the White. Jimmy Gilford paced the offense for the Green with his third multiple hit game and was followed by Brandon Benton and Justin Hill each with two hits a piece.
Game 4 of the best of Seven series will take place Tuesday at Smith-Wills Stadium at 3pm.
