Jackson, MS-After three straight tough losses, the Belhaven women’s basketball team returned home Saturday night and defeated Dillard University 56-47 to go to 13-9 on the season and 4-7 in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference. With the loss, Dillard falls to 8-13 and 1-10 in the GCAC.

Jackson, MS-Following a disappointing 10-8 loss to Berry College on Friday night, the Belhaven baseball team swept the Vikings in a non-conference doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at Smith-Wills Stadium. The Blazers took game one 9-5 and upended Berry in game two 8-4 on another cold and windy day at the stadium. Belhaven played much better on defense and came through with some clutch hits to win the three game series with the Vikings.

Jackson, MS-Belhaven looked to be in control with a 5-0 lead over Berry College through five innings Friday afternoon in non-conference baseball action at Smith-Wills Stadium, but the Vikings rallied late to score 10 runs and held on for a 10-8 victory over the Blazers. Belhaven struggled on defense and couldn’t muster some clutch hits which enabled Berry to stay in the game.

Shreveport, LA-The Belhaven men’s basketball team lost for the third straight time on Thursday night falling at 5th ranked LSU-Shreveport in Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Action 70-62. Free throw shooting played a big role in the outcome of the game as the Blazers struggled at the line making only 15 of their 27 attempts. On the other hand, the Pilots cashed in on 70.3 percent of their shots at the stripe including 18 of 25 in the second half. In the first meeting of the season between Belhaven and LSUS, it was the Pilots who hurt themselves at the line which helped the Blazers pull out a two point 67-65 win back on January 14th.

Shreveport, LA-The Belhaven women’s basketball team wrapped up their three game road swing on Thursday night with a 66-56 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference loss at LSU-Shreveport. Jira Williams poured in 19 points, but it wasn’t enough to overtake the second place Pilots who won for the eighth consecutive time.

Jackson, MS-Belhaven University is pleased to announce the 2010 football schedule which features five home games this fall. The Blazers will open the 2010 season at Texas College on Saturday August 28th beginning at 6:00 PM. Belhaven will also renew its rivalry with Mississippi College in a contest against the Choctaws slated for September 11th at Mississippi College.
