Blazers Advance to GCAC Tournament Semifinals

Mobile, AL-The Belhaven volleyball team advanced to the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Tournament Semifinals on Friday by splitting a pair of matches in pool play to keep the 2009 season alive. The Blazers opened the tournament with a tough loss to Loyola University 3-0 with final set scores of 19-25, 20-25, and 23-25. However, Belhaven regrouped with a 3-0 victory over Southern University at New Orleans in the day’s second match to move on to the semifinals. The final set scores in the SUNO match were 25-19, 25-18, and 25-19.

Blazers Shutdown Mid-Continent

Jackson, MS-The Belhaven women’s basketball team had a solid night on both sides of the ball Thursday evening as they cruised to an 85-45 victory over Mid-Continent University in Rugg Arena. The Blazers forced 42 turnovers and got a number of second chance point opportunities thanks to 29 offensive rebounds.
